Dave Galafassi Professional Career

Dave started his career as a musician in the early 1990s. In 2002, he joined the Sydney indie band ‘Gelbison’ drummer. ‘Gelbison’ is an Australian pop-rock band founded in 2000 by Pete Farley.

Pete Farley played bass guitar, Dave Galafassi played drums, and the Kahn brothers, Edo and Nadav, sang, played guitar, and played keyboard.

They played gigs in and around Sydney. On April 7, 2003, the band released its first album ‘1704,’ via Virgin Records and EMI Music Group Australia.

Before the album’s release, the band released its debut single, ‘Metal detector,’ in October 2002, followed by ‘Homelands,’ in February 2003, and ‘Good God,’ in April 2003. (May 2003).

Galafassi had married Australian actor-singer Toni Collette when the album was published, and she filmed the music video for the hit ‘Good God.’

Galafassi left the band before the publication of the band’s second album. Later that year, the band ‘Gelbison’ disbanded.

Galafassi and his wife Toni Collette founded the group ‘Toni Collette & The Finish’ in January 2006. Toni likes songwriting and singing in addition to acting. Later, Pete Farley, Galafassi’s ‘Gelbison’ colleague, joined their group.

On October 7, 2006, ‘Hoola Hoop Records’ issued the new band’s debut album, ‘Beautiful Awkward Pictures.’ ‘Look Up,’ ‘Trouble With Sister,’ ‘Beautiful Awkward Pictures,’ ‘This Moment is Golden,’ ‘Mosaic Life,’ and ‘Tender Hooks’ were among the album’s tracks.

On the ‘AIR Indie Distro Albums Chart,’ the album reached number 12. On September 2, 2006, the song ‘Beautiful Awkward Pictures’ was released and peaked at number eight.

The band toured Australia in late 2006 and early 2007; the trip was well-received. The band taped their first broadcast performance at the ‘Sydney Opera House’ in November 2006 for ‘Max Sessions.’ This episode, which aired in January 2007, had one of the highest ratings.

Their band performed at the Australian leg of the ‘Live Earth’ concert in Sydney in 2007.

The group ‘Toni Collette & the Finish‘ has not published a follow-up album to their debut due to the band members’ commitments to other projects, notably Toni Collette, the vocalist/band’s frontwoman and Galafassi’s wife. Galafassi is now a drummer in several different Australian rock bands.

Galafassi starred as a club drummer in Megan Griffiths’ 2013 comedic drama film ‘Lucky Them.’
